To fibreglass or not?
Originally I had considered a varnish only finish to avoid using fibreglass. All the woods used are relatively hard and unlikely to dent in normal usage so the additional strength offered by fibreglass was not required. Having spent over 200 hours designing and building the board I was wary of it being spoiled by a poorly applied finish or water seeping into the timber. I therefore decided the extra durability offered by fibreglass would be well worth it and I took the build to Chris at Daily Bread Surfboards to have it finished https://www.dailybreadsurfboards.co.uk/. Chris did an amazing gloss finish and I was really pleased with how the grain of the woo stood out.
