The hollow nature of the board means there is a lot of air inside and as the air inside heats up inside this will increase the internal pressure. To reduce the risk of the pressure splitting the board apart splitting the wood apart it has a pressure relief valve.
The valve is visible just to the left and above the leash plug.

I got this one from https://driftwoodsurfboards.co.uk/. It is made from stainless steel, has a nitrile o-ring and feel really robust. The valve is manually opened and closed using an allen key.
The board has another vent at the nose of the board so that if damaged and water seeped in, air could be blown through the board to dry it.
